DES MOINES, Iowa -- We now have severe thunderstorm watch in effect for most of central and northern Iowa until 4AM. It replaces the tornado watch that was in effect for the same area. There is a flash flood watch also in effect until 7AM for the same outline of central Iowa. It includes all our viewers who live along and north of Interstate 80.

More heavy rain is falling and will continue to move through the area. Expect the larger storms in the metro by 2AM. We will see heavy rainfall and gusty wind. Large hail is also possible.

Much warmer temperatures are on the way Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will be in the lower 90s. Heat index temperatures will reach 100.

There is another good chance for strong storms late Wednesday through early Thursday.
