DES MOINES, Iowa – Drivers Tuesday morning had to brush up on winter driving skills a little early in the season.
Meteorologist Jeriann Ritter said under an inch fell over the metro on to warm roads, which meant much of it didn’t stick. However, blowing snow created slick spots for drivers.
Des Moines police says there were 19 accidents from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m.
One vehicle had a rollover accident on the westbound off ramp to Highway 141on I-80/35 at about 5 a.m.. That lane reopened after about 30 minutes.

This snow is part of a system that buried parts of the upper Midwest. More than a foot of snow fell in parts of Minnesota causing travel chaos.
