Another Storm System to Bring Blowing Snow

DES MOINES, Iowa – Another storm system moving through the Upper Midwest will bring strong winds and dangerous wind chills to the state today.

Travel is still not recommended in northern Iowa. The NW wind is gusting over 20 to 30 mph. The roads are 50-100% snow covered, but the biggest issue is the low visibility.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect until Noon the metro and Northern Iowa. Blowing snow will lead to reduced visibility and snow drifts. If you must travel, please have a winter survival kit in your car, and do not abandon the car if you become stranded.

It will feel close to -20 throughout the afternoon due to the strong winds.

Temperatures this weekend will warm to the 20s.
