Usain Bolt is ridiculous.  During the prelims and semifinals of the 100 meter dash Bolt essentially moon-walked over the finish line.  I think he stopped at Jimmy John’s and grabbed a Turkey Tom as well.  People need to remember he’s making the fastest runners in the WORLD look silly.  The fastest man in the world, is the fastest of all-time.

Oscar Pistorius is incredible.  He had possibly the quote of a lifetime, “being disabled doesn’t mean you’re at a disadvantage.”  His ‘blades’ don’t give him an advantage, he’s jus really really good and anyone who criticizes him is embarrassing.  Inspiration.  This picture says it all.

Hawkeye football media day is Monday.  Odds on the first question to Kirk Ferentz being on the Running Back situation is at 98%.  The other question getting some play as the first asked is ‘Kirk how have the first 2 days of practice gone?’

The Hawkeyes are 6 1/2 point favorites in the season opener against Northern Illinois.  I’m not a betting man, but if I were forced to bet I’d probably take the points.

Feel bad for Bengals rookie Shaun Prater, the former Hawkeye CB, suffered a knee injury and will miss his entire rookie season in the NFL.  Good guy.

Nothing is guaranteed.  McKayla Maroney found that out in heartbreak fashion.  4 years of training comes down to 25 seconds of 2 vaults, 1 slip costs her the gold medal.

My daughter (18 months old) has learned how to say the word no.  I have ‘no’ idea how she learned it, but she knows what it means, and uses it often. I better savor these moments when she can’t speak full sentences. The teenage years are right around the corner…
