AMES, Iowa — Steve Prohm was named the new Iowa State head basketball coach on Monday and he, along with several ISU players, were interviewed to hear their take on the hiring.

The former Murray State head coach spoke with reporters about this new challenge, his basketball philosophy, and the task of replacing Ames icon Fred Hoiberg.

The 2015 Big 12 Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Georges Niang discussed what he thinks of Prohm after meeting him for the first time, and what the future holds with him as the team’s new head coach.

Cyclone starters Jameel McKay and Monte Morris also talked about Prohm’s fit with the Iowa State program, his style of play, and how they feel about this process being over.

Prohm will be formally introduced as Iowa State’s new head coach during a press conference on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
