KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Races at Knoxville have been going on for more than a hundred years, but a first happened there over the weekend.

Eighteen-year-old McKenna Haase became the first woman to win a feature Sprint Car race. It happened Saturday night in the 305 sprints.

Her pink #55 car got the checkered flag at the Knoxville Raceway.

Haase had a busy weekend. She also graduated, from Carlisle High School, as a valedictorian. She’s one of five valedictorians from a graduating class of 161 students.
