AMES, Iowa – Cyclone football head coach Paul Rhoads has placed now former walk-on Trever Ryen on scholarship.
The native from Ida Grove, Iowa, leads the team in total touchdowns so far this season with two. His first touchdown came against Northern Iowa in the team’s season opener when he returned a punt 81 yards for a score. The second touchdown was a one-yard run during last week’s matchup with Toledo.
Ryen initially attended Northern Iowa from 2013-14 to participate on the Panther track and field team. Following his one year in Cedar Falls, Ryen transferred to Iowa State where he ultimately made the football team as a walk-on, before being given a scholarship on Tuesday.
Ryen becomes the 20th walk-on to be placed on scholarship in the Rhoads era at ISU.
