NEW YORK – Earlier this year American Pharoah became the first horse to win the triple crown in 37 years.  A-P looked unbeatable, until Saturday.

Iowa horse, Keen Ice, owned by Donegal Racing and Jerry Crawford took down American Pharoah at the Travers Stakes in a massive upset.

“To be honest, we expected to win,” says Crawford.

American Pharoah led for most of the race and looked like it was going to win on the home stretch but Keen Ice chased him down at the line to win by a step.

Keen Ice is no slouch horse, it took 3rd at the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.
