Hawkeye Defensive End Nate Meier Added to Award Watch List

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa defensive end Nate Meier has been added to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List.

He’s one of 32 players named to the mid-season list, and the award is given to the nation’s best defensive end. Meier ranks first on the Hawkeyes in sacks (6), second in tackles for loss (7), fourth in total tackles (42).

The Tabor, Iowa, native has been a key part of Iowa’s vaunted defense, which ranks third in the nation in rushing defense (74.1 yards allowed per game), 10th in scoring defense (15.3 points allowed per game), 12th in total defense (294.3 yards allowed per game), and 14th in sacks (22).

The final mid-season watch list will be announced in late November, with the winner being announced on Dec. 9.
