DAY TWO: Girls State Soccer Tournament

On day two of the Girls State Soccer Tournament just five central Iowa teams remained.

The Ankeny girls are having one of the best seasons in Iowa high school history.

The Hawkettes are 20-0, ranked number 1, and have only let in one goal the entire season. They took on Waukee in the 3A semifinal.

Ankeny were up 1-0 in the 2nd, but Jessica Duff, from deep, scores just the second goal on the Hawkettes all year tying at 1.

5 mins later, Kelsey Yarrow answers. Ankeny stays undefeated, heads to the 3A championship with a 2-1 win over Waukee.

Second ranked Dowling took on Iowa City West. Two goals either side of the half help set up a Maroon matchup with Ankney for the 3A title. Dowling beat Iowa City West 2-0.

In Class 1A, Nevada was trying to pull an upset on number 1 ranked Davenport Assumption. The Lady Knights came out firing leading 3-0 at the half. Nevada was not discouraged they kept fighting to get on the board. It wasn’t enough, Assumption wins 4-2.

In Class 2A, Pella took on top ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier. The Saints were too much. Pella falls, 4-0.
