It was the Coaches vs. Cancer Charity Golf Classic at Wakonda Monday.

All money raised helps to support the fight against cancer.

Iowa State basketball head coach Fred Hoiberg was one of the big names on hand. The Ames native stole the show with a hole-in-one on the 17th.

It is the first ace of his life, on the par 3. Two months ago, Hoiberg shot a double eagle.

“I always hit the ball pretty pathetically to be honest with you. A 130-yard hole downhill I’d love to be able to tell you that I pured a pitching wedge and had a bit of backspin and into the hole but I bladed it a little bit, set a little side spin on it and hit the flag and dropped,” Hoiberg told Channel 13.

The Mayor said he was “floored,” joking that “this will be my last day of golfing.”

UNI’s Ben Jacobson and Drake’s Ray Giacoletti also attend the event. Since 2007, coaches from Iowa have helped raise over $1.5-million for the cause.
