Workers Ready for Long Election Day

DES MOINES, Iowa — Polls are now open for the 2014 Midterm Election. You can cast your ballot until 9 p.m. tonight. If you haven’t registered to vote yet, you can do so at your polling place. Just bring your identification to prove who you are and where you live.

Election officials are expecting a big turnout for the midterms. As of Sunday, 432,190 Iowans had already cast their ballots according to the Iowa Secretary of State’s office. That’s out of the 520,332 requested. Of those sending in absentee ballots, 167,545 are Republican, 175,346 are Democrats, 197 are Iowa Green, 430 are Libertarian and 88,672 didn’t declare a party.

Poll workers were busy setting up around the state Tuesday morning. Workers told us they’re ready for a long and interesting day.
