Woman, Two Girls Killed in Iowa County Crash

IOWA COUNTY, Iowa — Three people are dead including two children after a crash in Iowa County Thursday.

The two vehicle collision took place along Highway 6 near Marengo around 7:00 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol reports 11-year-old Cherokee Nieman, 14-year-old Hailey Cruise, and 42-year-old Marilyn Coon died in the crash. All three were from Williamsburg.

Officials say an SUV driven by 40-year-old Renee Jones was traveling northbound on Highway 6 when it went onto the shoulder. Jones overcorrected, crossed the center line than struck a southbound SUV.

Three other people were hurt and were sent to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
