shooting DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police detectives are investigating after a late night shooting.

Police were called to the Oakridge neighborhood just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim said she was shot while walking home from the Git-N-Go on Keo Way. She was able to get to herself home before calling police.

The victim was able to identify the car she believed the shot came from and police were able to find that car.

The vehicle was impounded so detectives could take a closer look at.

Sergeant Brad Kress with the Des Moines Police Department said they did identify the people around the vehicle. He would not say if police had a suspect in custody, but said they had a lead in the case.

Paramedics took the victim to the hospital with two minor wounds to her forearm.

Kress says the gun was either a small caliber weapon or more likely a pellet gun.
