DAVENPORT,  Iowa — An eastern Iowa woman has pleaded guilty to federal charges after faking a birth to collect child support.

Johna Vandemore collected more than $100,000 over six years from a man who thought he was the fake child’s father.

According to court documents Vandemore met up with the victim on an online dating site seven years ago. Vandemore contacted the victim several months after the meeting saying she was pregnant.

She used a fake birth certificate to convince the man to pay her $1,000 per month for child support.
