An Israeli doctor known for his irrigation work in the Middle East is the recipient of this year’s World Food Prize. 

Dr. Daniel Hillel is being recognized for increasing food production in Israel and throughout the Middle East. He will receive his award during the World Food Prize events in Des Moines, during the week of October 15th.

Iowa native, Dr. Norman Borlaug created the World Food Prize in 1986. It recognizes individuals who help improve the quality, quantity or availability of food throughout the world.
