WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Two people were injured Monday during an altercation that led to a shooting.
Authorities were dispatched to 3504 Elm St. just after 4 p.m. when a call came in about a disturbance.
West Des Moines Police Sgt. Jason Bryan said a man was found outside in the yard with a gunshot wound. The shooting suspect was inside when officers arrived, and authorities were able to get him to come outside. Bryan said the suspect was taken into custody and transferred to a local hospital for injuries sustained during an altercation.
Police say the suspect and victim got into a fight prior to the shooting.
The victim was taken to a different area hospital. Conditions for both men are unknown at this time.
Police say this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
The residence is right off Valley West Drive, which prompted authorities to temporarily close Valley West Drive at Elm Street.
