WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- A popular daycare is closing its doors short notice, leaving parents scrambling to find care for their children.

Kingdom Kids Academy announced to parents late Tuesday night it would be closing eight days later on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The owners, whom are based out of Nebraska, would not comment on the nature of the closure however employees tell Channel 13 the closure came after a new director was slated to start but backed out at the last minute.

Employees said there are currently 62 children ages six weeks through 12-years-old in the daycare. More than 95 percent of them receiving care are on state-aid.

It is unsure if parents will have to pay the reminder of their daycare fees.
