DES MOINES, Iowa — A retired Air Force veteran has hopes of opening an empowerment center to help struggling veterans with mental health issues.

After Ronnie Murray left the military, he says he struggled with PTSD and depression for years. He says the purpose of the veterans affairs will focus on preventing suicide and counseling.

It will also serve as place for veterans to feel comfortable and feel like their concerns are being heard.

Murray says he was inspired to launch the center after the death of Des Moines Army veteran, Richard Miles.
