If a new story begins each time a child is born, then David and Ardeth Hoeksema`s daughter has lived chapters worth to brag about.

Honor student, traveler, volleyball player, class vice president and though adolescence can be awkward, every girl should be so lucky as to have her father get struck by this notion... “I never want to forget those stories, so I sat down early January just to write `em and by the middle of March I was done,” David said.

It was a father`s love poured into a laptop, and though some girls might be embarrassed by this, David admits he let everybody read it.

It seemed that, in the words of Kjrsten`s story people were finding hope as if god was speaking to them.

“I was suddenly struck with a premonition.  I heard a voice inside me saying, David, someday you will have to give her away, and the tears began to flow down my cheeks,” he recalled.

In September of 2004 Kjrsten was in the back seat of a car rear-ended by a man who was on drugs.  He was speeding, and he was sentenced to ten years for vehicular homicide.

Reality smacked Kjrsten`s friends and classmates. Many wondered if they were to die, would they join Kjrsten in heaven.  The Hoeksema’s started hosting a bible study at their house.

Dozens of kids attended, more than a hundred over the following months and years.  They shared hopes and dreams that Kjrsten would never be able to.

“Even if it heals just the heart of one kid who`s had to deal with the loss of a friend,” Ardeth said she has done her job.

David and Ardeth say they want people to realize the same hope and life of purpose like Kjrsten found and like they shared with her peers.

Kjrsten`s story written by her father seven years after she died was published in December.  She even picked out the title, “What people don`t really know is the day she died, in her school planner, she has written the words to 'if you get there before I do' on the planner.  She wrote that chorus the day she died.”
