GREENE COUNTY, Iowa -- A third attempted abduction in two days was reported Monday.

Deputies are on the scene in Grand Junction in Greene County, has learned.

It comes after authorities in Webster County responded to two attempted abductions over the weekend less than 30 miles away.

Deputies say just before 3 p.m. Sunday in Gowrie, a 13-year-old girl was in Brocket Park when she says a man hiding in some bushes approached her.

She said the man was white, and wearing a dark colored ski mask.

The victim ran away and noticed a white vehicle with some rust and a black man sitting inside in a nearby alley.

Two hours later, and 12 miles down the road, a 5-year-old girl in Dayton was riding her bike on 3rd Street NE, when she says a white van pulled over near her, and a white man wearing a black ski mask got out and started following her.

She said she heard the man talking to another man still inside of the vehicle but she didn’t see him.

The girl rode her bike to a relative’s house, who reported the incident to Dayton police.

Neither of the girls were hurt.

If you have any information on either of these incidents, you’re asked to call police or Webster County Crime Stoppers at (515) 573-1444.
