Iowa State Troopers say a driver with low blood sugar caused two accidents on the metro’s north side Monday.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the northeast mixmaster.

Troopers say the driver of a pick-up truck began to lose consciousness causing him to hit a semi, then swerve the other way and hit an RV towing a car.

According to troopers that wasn’t the driver’s first accident of the day. He had another on 86th street earlier.

The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
