The Iowa Department of Public Health is investigating an active case of tuberculosis.

Medical director, Dr. Patricia Quinlisk says it’s in the Postville area in northeast Iowa. She says there’s no major cause for worry.

The department usually sees 30 to 40 cases of active TB in the state per year. Quinlisk says about 90-percent of those who are exposed never get sick.

The department has already contacted people who need to take preventive antibiotics.
