DES MOINES, Iowa – The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating after a threatening letter and suspicious powder was sent to a local bar.
Hazmat crews responded to The Blazing Saddle, located at 416 East 5th St, at about 1 p.m. Friday. East Fifth Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street was blocked off as officials investigated.
Bryan Smith, one of the bar’s owners, told the Des Moines Register that everyone inside the bar was okay. “We get hate mail like this every once in a while but never powder,” Smith told the Register.
Officials were able to identify the substance as talcum powder.
Warning: The the letter includes offensive language
