DES MOINES, Iowa – The lunar eclipse and “blood moon” had many staying up past their bedtimes, so they could view the rare occurrence Wednesday morning.

The two minute video was shot by the father and son team of Brian & Wil Abeling from West Des Moines. Starting at 3 a.m., they visited multiple locations in downtown Des Moines and recorded photos and video of the eclipse. All of the telephoto or closeup shots were done by Wil as well as the final composition photo. Brian handled the wide angle shots and they did the editing together this morning following the eclipse.
