DES MOINES, Iowa – Police have made an arrest in the June 9th shooting death of 16-year-old Terry Harris.
On Wednesday, police announced that Kenneth Raphael Moore, 17, of Des Moines, has been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the case. Police said the charges are an automatic waiver to adult court for the 17-year-old suspect.
The shooting happened 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue at about 2 p.m. on June 9th. Harris was taken to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where he later died from his injuries.
At the time, investigators said the shooting didn’t appear to be random and that the victim and suspect were acquaintances.
“I believe they were well acquainted with each other,” said Sgt. Jason Halifax of the Des Moines Police Department. “The shooting actually happened inside the house, in close proximity, so there’s no indication it was a home invasion, or burglary, or robbery, or anything like that.”
