Suspect in Metro Officers’ Murders Waives Preliminary Hearing

DES MOINES, Iowa – The man charged with murdering two Des Moines-area police officers has waived his preliminary hearing.

Scott Greene, 46, had been scheduled to appear in Polk County Court for a preliminary hearing on November 14th but online court records show the hearing has been waived.

Greene is accused of ambushing Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin and Des Moines Police Sgt. Tony Beminio in the early morning hours of Nov. 2nd. Each officer was in their own patrol vehicle when they were gunned down.

The next scheduled court appearance for Greene is an arraignment set for November 19th.

He is being held in the Polk County Jail after being charged with two counts of first degree murder.
