A man wanted in Fort Dodge on an attempted murder charge for more than a year is in custody following a routine traffic stop in Des Moines Monday night.
As Des Moines police pulled over a car at 21st and Forest, one of the people in the car bailed out and ran off. Officers eventually apprehended 19-year-old Deron Foy.
Police say he was carrying a gun, which he stashed in a grill.
Authorities in Webster County have been looking for Foy in connection with a shooting in 2010. Police say he fired several rounds into an occupied car.
Three others in the car were also taken into custody. Eighteen-year-old Tyron Gully, 26-year-old Derrick McElroy, and 17-year-old Davontae Naylor-Foy were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
Gully, Naylor-Foy, and Foy are being held in the Polk County Jail.
Naylor-Foy is being held by the juvenile justice system.
