Des Moines police arrested a man Friday morning following a robbery at a pay day loan business.

Police say 24-year-old Daron W. Thomas entered the Check Into Cash at 4125 University Avenue around 10:20 a.m. He waited in line, but when it was his turn he demanded money from an employee. Money was given to him, but he wanted more and jumped over the counter to grab some.

Thomas ran from the store but police caught up with him after an officer recognized him from his description. He ran from the officer into the KFC at 3200 Forest Avenue where he tried to hide in the bathroom.

Police found him in the bathroom along with the money he had stolen. Thomas had tried to flush it down the toilet.

Thomas was taken into custody and charged with 1st degree robbery and interference with official acts.
