The Des Moines School Board has done their homework and they’ve decided exactly what they want in a new superintendent. The board held a special meeting Thursday to discuss the results of an online survey they put out asking residents what key qualities their next leader needed.
Nearly 1000 people participated, voicing their opinions on desired qualifications.
The boards list of qualifications includes; a strong communicator, good people skills, knowing emerging research, and having district management experience.
Former Superintendent Nancy Sebring resigned in May after sexually-explicit e-mails on her district account surfaced. Tom Ahart is serving as Interim Superintendent.
The board will meet again on Friday to continue the discussion on the search for a new superintendent.
Applications for the position will be made available on Monday.
