A Des Moines man charged in a homicide that happened on the city’s east side last fall has accepted a plea deal.

Thirty-one-year-old Joseph Ceretti pleaded guilty Friday to attempted murder and manslaughter in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Eric Naylor. He’s been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Naylor’s body was found with stab wounds near the intersection of East 17th and Walnut streets last November.

Police arrested Ceretti and charged him with first-degree murder.

Ceretti remains in the Polk County Jail.
