A Clive man has been charged in the Sunday stabbing of a Waukee man.

Clive police say 44-year-old Matthew Burris is charged with willful injury and going armed with intent for an incident that happened early Sunday morning.

According to police, Burris and 43-year-old Rick Farrell were out with friends and Burris left before everyone else. Burris was called back to pick up Farrell and some others. An altercation happened during the drive to Burris’ house between Burris and Farrell. Farrell got out of the vehicle a short distance from Burris’ home and walked the rest of the way.

Police say when Burris got home he got a steak knife from the house and went outside. When Farrell arrived he and Burris got into another altercation and Burris stabbed Farrell in the stomach.

Farrell was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Burris is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a bond of $10,000.
