Coaches against Cancer - the name pretty much says it all.

For 20 years NCAA basketball coaches have raised over $87-million to help the fight against cancer.

The big four from Iowa stepped to the line Friday night.

Fred Hoiberg, Ben Jacobson, Ray Giacolletti and Margaret McCaffery, wife of Iowa head coach Fran all attended Prairie Meadows for the Kentucky Derby Gala.

It was a night of fellowship, dinner and auctions to benefit the American Cancer Society.

For the McCafferys this event means even more.

“It’s something we’ve really worked hard to raise awareness, raise money and try to fight against for quite a long time and obviously now with our situation it’s brought even more awareness to everything and how important it is that we’re all here together doing this,” Margaret said.

The McCafferys’ 14-year-old son, Patrick, underwent surgery in March after a thyroid tumor was diagnosed as malignant.
