Following the passing of his wife, John Ward has announced his intent to seek the Republican nomination for Senate District 22, to continue her legacy.

Senator Pat Ward was running for reelection when she lost her 3 year battle with cancer in mid-October.

Due to the timing of her death, her name will still appear on November election ballots; Governor Branstad has called for a special election to be held on December 11 to fill the seat.

The Republican Party of Iowa has called a convention for November 8 to nominate a candidate.

John Ward says, if nominated his main goals will be bringing economic growth to the community and investing in education.

Ward is a former president of the West Des Moines School Board, he is the president and CEO of Sullivan and Ward, PC, law firm, a Drake Law graduate, and a lifelong Iowa resident.
