SOLDIER SENDOFF: Deployment To Kosovo

A sendoff ceremony has been scheduled for Friday for some Iowa National Guard soldiers heading overseas for service.

About 40 members of the 248th Aviation Support Battalion are deploying to Kosovo. The unit is based in Boone but has detachments in Waterloo and Davenport.

The soldiers will leave Friday for training at Fort Hood, Texas. Once in Kosovo they’ll test and maintain aircraft used in peace keeping missions.

A sendoff ceremony is being held at Boone High School at 5:00 p.m. Friday.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.
