DES MOINES, Iowa -- 40,000 people were expected to gather in Court Avenue Saturday at the Downtown Farmers' Market kicked off its 40th year.

In 2015, there will be around 200 vendors on any given Saturday with more than 30 of them new to market.

The market will be open rain or shine each Saturday until October 31 from 7 a.m. until noon.
