SHOPLIFTING UPDATE: Arrest Made After Tipoff

On November 30th, WHO-HD and others asked the public to name this suspect.

A tip on our Facebook page contributed to the arrest of 21 year old Des Moines resident, Meggen Anne Richards, in connection to a shoplifting incident that took place on November, 12th at the Ankeny Kohl’s Store.

Richards was identified by several people after a press release of her photograph and vehicle was made public.

After being captured on surveillance cameras entering and exiting the store, Richards allegedly backed her Dodge Caravan into a security officer on two occasions as she attempted to flee the area.

The officer suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Richards is currently in the Polk County Jail on charges of robbery in the 2nd degree and reckless driving.

The Ankeny Police Department has extended their gratitude to the media and public for their involvement.
