Des Moines police say they’re close to naming a suspect in this year’s fifth homicide investigation.

Police say a caller led them to this industrial area on East 17th street Thursday morning. They found the body of 35-year old Steven Harmon of Des Moines lying between two trailers.

Investigators don’t think the woman who called it in is a suspect. But they say calling the crime in as an assault when she knew it was a shooting, raises questions.

“While she’s not a suspect the fact that she was evasive kind of gives our investigators may some sort of the motive,” says Sgt. Jason Halifax.

Halifax says the victim, Steven Harmon, had a few prior run-ins with police but that he was not likely to have been involved in a crime during the shooting.
