A Marshall County man has had his sentenced upheld more than a year after pleading guilty to molesting three children.

Phillip Carter of Le Grand pled guilty last July to two counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse and one count of lascivious acts with a child.

The three victims included his own child and two step children aged between seven and nine at the time.

After pleading guilty, the 30-year old received a 25-year sentence last October. Carter then appealed the deal claiming his lawyer was ineffective.

His appeal was denied last month. This week, Carter’s sentence of 25-years in prison was upheld.
