DES MOINES, Iowa – A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning in an accident on Des Moines’ south side.

Emergency responders were called to respond to an accident at SW 9th and Bundy, just a block north of the Blank Park Zoo, around 8:40 a.m.

Sgt. Paul Parizek says the motorcyclist was turning north on to SW 9th from Bundy when he collided with a northbound car, pinching his leg in between the vehicles.

Parizek says the man’s injuries are severe but survivable. A portion of his leg was seriously injured, leading to a near amputation of the foot.

Police say the driver of the car was not at fault in the crash.
