DES MOINES, Iowa -- It was once Iowa’s Coney Island, but for more than 35 years Riverview Park has been an empty space, and city officials are hoping to change that.

Located along Corning Avenue, Riverview Park was once an amusement park with a roller-coaster and merry-go-round. But just a few years after Adventureland opened in Altoona, officials closed the park.

Last December the Des Moines Parks Department listened to the public`s ideas on what to do with the park. Monday, they will present some of those ideas in a proposal.

This plan includes a playground, walking paths, and a music stage. The public meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Northside Senior Center at Park Fair Mall off of East Euclid.
