RED KETTLE: Gold And Silver Donated

The Salvation Army in Des Moines has struck silver and gold.

The Salvation Army says an Australian kangaroo gold coin was found in the red kettle at the Bass Pro Shop in Altoona. The coin was discovered on Saturday and is worth about $1,300.

Officials also found a one troy ounce silver bar in a red kettle at the Hy-Vee in Windsor Heights.

That is worth about $20.

The Red Kettle campaign goes on until Christmas Eve. The goal of the campaign is to raise $1.2 million.
