This week the Iowa Board of Regents will vote on adding a new program at Iowa State University.

The university wants to add a Bachelor of Science program in athletic training. If the board approves the proposal it will mean the university can keep its accredited status.

The status is granted by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. Iowa State has been a CAATE recognized school since 2001.

The organization announced that all accredited schools must have athletic training as a stand-alone major prior to the 2014/2015 school year.
