DES MOINES, Iowa — A new poll conducted by the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics shows the top two Democratic candidates are making gains in Iowa.
Hillary Clinton leads the pack with 48-percent support from likely Democratic caucus goers. That’s up five points since August’s poll.
Bernie Sanders is holding down second place, and shrinking Clinton’s lead by one point, with a tally of 41-percent. He has gained six points since August.
Martin O’Malley comes in at a very distant third place with just two percent of the support.
The poll shows other Democratic candidates have one-percent, or less, support.
The poll was conducted before Vice President Joe Biden’s decision not to run. His first choice support was re allocated in the poll based on second choice responses.
