DES MOINES, Iowa–A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy, paralyzed after getting shot by an undocumented immigrant eleven years ago, plans to take part in a rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Friday.

In 2005, Mike Lose chased after a gang member racing through a south Des Moines neighborhood. Gunfire rang out and Lose got shot several times, including in the back, which prevented him from walking.

On his Facebook page, Lose posted:

“Just to let everyone know that I will be speaking for a few minutes on behalf of Donald Trump just before his rally Friday at living history farms I will be speaking about illegal immigration and how it has effected my life. Any candidate that is for tightening our borders and enforcing penalties against cop killers has my vote and hopefully all law enforcement. GO TRUMP. ”

Trump talks frequently about stopping undocumented immigrants from entering the United States and forcing out those already in the country. He also says that as President, he will build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico and he will make Mexico pay for it.
