While campaigning in Sioux City Saturday, Wisconsin Governor and fellow presidential candidate Scott Walker reacted to Trump's comments. "John McCain is an American hero. I have nothing but respect for his service to the country."

The Republican National Committee released a statement in response to Trump's remarks.

""Senator McCain is an American hero because he served his country and sacrificed more than most can imagine. Period. There is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably.”"

Following his appearance at the summit, Trump told reporters he would not apologize to McCain for his comments.

Trump later posted a response on his Facebook page.
