A special election Tuesday will lead to another in the coming months in Warren County.

Voters in Warren and Madison counties voted to pick a new state senator to replace the disgraced Sen. Sorenson.

The unofficial results show Republican Julian Garrett has beaten Mark Davitt to take the seat.

Garrett was congratulated by Senate Republican Leader Bill Dix, “Julian ran a great campaign. Senate Republicans are excited to work with Julian.”

Garrett is a State Representative from Indianola. Another special election will have to be held to replace Garrett in the Statehouse.
