Republican Mark Costello to Replace Ernst in Iowa Senate

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa’s latest state senator was chosen in a special election to replace US Senator-Elect Joni Ernst.

With 74 percent of the vote, Republican Mark Costello won the race to represent Senate District 12.

Democrat Steven Adams received 22 percent of the votes and Libertarian Don Brantz got four percent.

Ernst will be sworn into her new post next week.
