More information has been released about President Barack Obama’s Thursday visit to Iowa.

The White House says the president will speak at TPI Composites, a manufacturer of wind turbine blades, in Newton. He is expected to talk about the need to invest in clean energy and call for an extension to the Production Tax Credit, which benefits wind energy manufacturers.

The event in Newton is official business, but the president will also be campaigning while he is in Iowa. Obama is also set to attend a grassroots rally being held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Thursday.

At the campaign event, Obama will talk about building a stable economy for the middle class.

The event is being held in the Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center and doors open at 4:30 p.m. It is free to attend but is on a first-come first-served basis. The president is expected to speak around 7:00 p.m.
