DES MOINES, Iowa -- Many Iowa students and their families are returning Sunday from spring break road trips.

For many students, spring break's not just a couple days off from school. Schools give them a week. Then, some parents let students skip school the Friday before that week off.

So schools then added that Friday to the long break, and some parents let their kids skip the day before that, too.

Dave Price took to Facebook to see if you think spring break has gone too far.

Dolly Santangelo wrote: "I went to Catholic school decades ago. We had off Thursday and Friday before Easter and maybe the Monday after Easter. Too much time off these days."

Mya Rounds-Solem said she doesn't pull her kids out of school early. She wrote:

"I have personally never pulled my sons out of school for vacation, summer is just around the corner for that. I'd like to see them go that Friday and get out another day earlier at the end of the year. Seems like they get [too] much time off already..."

But some explained why they want to get their kids out early.

Tracy Horwedel Walker wrote: "Depends on the cost of a plane ticket and which airport we have to fly out to get the best price."

Gary Smith agreed, writing: "We usually left on Thursday due cheaper flights."
